RovingCalypso,

I wouldnt be so extreme in saying that flash will be completely out of the way. You are right for sure in saying that Flash is not good for SEO. There are certain techniques that some people manage to make sure the flash script at least does a little seo job by the way. Still, I think there should be a balance between both of them.

The question you have to make is,

How my visitors will come to my site? Is it through a personal card I will give people, or emails (no talking about spam)?

Or I want them to come from search engines?

I would also add other questions to the list... for example, which is my target? Is my target Internet Saavy?

Flash always looks better in my opinion, but I would go with an animated GIF instead, less effort, less bandwidth, and easier for users with a slower connection to view.

i prefer animated gif because its easy to do and the file size if very small and will have a problem with web surfers using a slow internet connection

Certainly flash. Flash content is now even Google indexes - this is the first.
GIF is used when you size is important - GIF is a little space (second).

Flash looks much better than animated GIF, although they are harder to compose.

But, if you keep in Flash Graphic in your website, it will surely draw more traffic.

Flash definitely appears to be more professional but check out whether it fulfils your needs or not .

I prefer using FLASH. It makes the website more appealing and eye-captivating. But using too much flash could lead your site to be boring...

With broadband Internet access standard, I would imagine that a small flash animation would be better than a GIF. Flash looks better (GIF is limited to 256 colors), and it is more professional.

Banner ads are about the only things that are in GIF on most websites.

Flash allows you to include twin motion as well as interactive features which makes animation more attractive then GIF Images.
