nofollow links are valuable as they give traffic, but they don't give any page rank at all.

Yes, you are right NoFollow links are helpful in just getting traffic but as far as Google concern than it give much preference to those links that are DoFollow.

Having links in sites with the rel=nofollow tag can still generate website traffic and that is good for your business. If by Google ranking you mean search engine ranking, then the answer would be no, those links will not be followed by Google at all. However, that statement is debatable as there are studies done , although I don't know any link that would support that other than wikipedia.com, that contradicts that. But I would suggest you to continue building links in both follow and nofollow sites to make your link building more natural.

First I have links from sites that are no-follow and when checking my Google webmaster tool many are listed. My question is if those links don't count and are not crawled why does Google index them in the first place?

Fact: Tests have shown that "nofollow" anchor text does get indexed, as evidenced by its appearance in the SERPs.

Well said bro ! A robust link building strategy consists of a rightful combination of do follow and no follow links.
