How to check SEO work

I am in process of buying a up and running web site and would like to know any possible way to check how much any site is getting and how much of SEO work is done.

As the guy who is selling says he isn't using the google webmaster to analytic tool?

actually u can check d traffic and conversions after performing SEO activities rather than checking wt have done for the promotion of your website. you can check from Google analytic as well as Spyfu.com.

Google Analytics is the best tool, you can check full traffic sources. You can check new visitors and returning visitors of your website by Google Analytics.

Definite, use Google Analytics.

*AWStats (free but not to much information)
*Stuffed Tracker (cost you $)
