Default do you always need to submit a sitemap to google

I was wondering if it is necessary to always submit a sitemap to google. My new sites get indexed within 24 -48 hours and I found they get all the other pages indexed within a week.

I am thinking it might be a waste of time to add my sitemaps to google. Are there any benefits to adding them anyway, even though the site's pages are indexed?

Not always. If your site is laid out well, with good interlinking structure, they should be able to fully index it anyway.

Sitemap never did any damage either mind...

I use WordPress so the linking is automatic, I use a sitemap generator plugin. And I have a pinglist that's automatically pinged whenever new content is added. Several times while starting a site without even submitting my site anywhere or having backlinks Google and some other searcengines found my site anyway.

Do you know of any good free sitemap generators that will work with large database driven sites with more than 10K pages?
Thanks-

I'm not sure if it works with something that size:

wordpress.org/extend/plugins/sitemap-generator

You can try asking the author he may know or be able to recommend one that will work with a site that size. My site is at about 70 pages and there's no problems so far.

I think submitting a site map to Google is just an additional point for your website to get indexed by Google.

I think
Sitemap.XML is good because it's google sitemap.
So,always use xml site map in the site.

Site maps are useless the only function they do is to help crawlers to crawl all your site which is not necessary if your site was built with optimized internal links

While sitemaps won‟t directly help you improve your rankings, the Google sitemap can help you get indexed quickly and if you monitor your site from the Google Sitemap interface you‟ll be able to see what search terms are bringing traffic to your website and where you are ranking for them as well.

I use them sometimes becasue of certain restrictions I have to deal with on clients sites. A good internal link structure will do the trick as long as you have links to the site.

Default Re:do you always need to submit a sitemap to google

Yes, submitting it makes your site--and its contents-indexed easily as it provides google crawler a comprehensive site information necessary for indexing..sitemap submission bridges the distance between your site and google search engine and this is important especially when searches are done.
