SEM and SEO?

I have a blog and want to promote it on Google. Which of SEO or SEM (Search engine marketing) is more effective for me?
And also where can i get a lot of information about SEM?

SEM and SEO both are different than each other because seo means free listing or natural listing and sem means paid listing.

SEO =Search Engien Optimization (Bring organic traffic to our site)

Always SEO is better than SEM in case of money and conversion.

I am not sure, But my view SEO is best. Try to do Green hate SEO and Search in google for more information about SEM.....

Well I prefer SEO because it is more sucessful in the long term while SEM is more sucessful but only short term!

Both are very different thing. SEO is free and its helpful for good ranking SERP and site PR. SMO is paid service and its helpful for short time whenever you paid money.
