I'm building backlinks through directory submissions and building of 3rd party hosted pages (3rd party, one-page websites with backlink). What do you think about it? Does anybody use this way of backlink building?

This kind of link building is ok. You need to create some minor sites for your major site. And those sites shall have content and a good PR value. But the problem might be that it is difficult for you to request backlinks.

No, three way linking is not that effective. It might be good for you. But you may find it hard to get those agree to do so. You need to spend effort on your minor site. Otherwise it is usually nothing more than a farm of outbound links.
