Default How to recognize fake traffic

hi everyone,

I have one website which running fine and getting good traffic from internet. Most of the repeat members come from my other referral site. When I saw last month of stats there are lots of repeat visitor from some of the ip’s. Some time in one day the traffic reach up to 1000 visitor but no impression from google or any other search engine. I am looking for some tool which help me to find out fake visitor.

You can find it with help of Google Analytics.Much used tool by all SEO marketeers.

It might be the case that these are robots. If you are using Awstats then you can easily find them.

Or if you have participated in free traffic getting programs then you are getting these fake traffic.

hi there

Im also curious of this i have a directory and i know that many of the visits will be from robots but i would like to know how. i had a look in awstats and could not see anything could you explain how the distingush this traffic.

Well I think if you will notice a higher bounce rate for your site its mean you are getting a fake traffic because they are not staying to your site...

Be wary of fake traffic. There are plenty of sites on the web that will offer you an expired website for just a few dollars. Keep in mind, however, that there are plenty of scams as well when it comes to online services. Make sure that the expired domain service provider that you choose has accurate information on the hits that their expired websites actually have. Plenty will post fake traffic information for the expired domains - which does not actually help to increase web site traffic. When you actually purchase the domain, however, you may find yourself getting only a fraction of the hits promised by the service provider.

The tactic I use is to see how many of the visitors only click on the first page and then leave. That normally tells me the chances of it being fake is far higher than traffic that gives more than 1 pageview on avg.

Yes, possibly it is a bad robots. You can check their IPs & block it on your robots.txt.
