Viral marketing is highly potent to increase website traffic especially with the help of social networking sites. This is not unknown to spammers and since these sites allow "close contact" between individuals virtually, they also leverage social networking sites to drive contents to their sites.

When someone posts a malicious link to your Facebook page wall, you can remove it, report it for spam, block the user (should the user be unknown to you.) Tumblr is another famous target for spamming via fake reblogs and I had been there. I reported the user which had already been flagged by Google due to outrageous counts in redirects, block the user's URL and I apologized to followers for the spamming.
If you suspect that your contact's wall or blog is used for spam, then do you bit and inform the person because chances are s/he does not have an idea about it.
