Is software traffic helpful in long run

Many SEO guys opt for software generated traffic. My question is that is it helpful for the site in long run or it will harm my site in future in search engines. Please suggest. Thanks.

I would never ever use software generated traffic, because this traffic would never convert into conversions and I am more concerned with real traffic that will convert into real time leads.

Generating site traffic manually is much better than using a software to do it. I agree with C. Rebecca, it would not do much on your conversion. Do more SEO because there is nothing like real traffic.
