Pros and Cons of Article Marketing
Pros of Article Marketing:- Highly effective when trying to target traffic or back links in a short time.
- These links are one way, so it will help boost your Google Page Rank (when it updates)
- If you are proficient with your own writing style, you can easily make a 300-500 word article which can help establish you as an expert in your niche.
- Article Marketing is viral. If you do it once, it just spreads out. Its quite contagious)
- As long as you provide quality content, you cannot go wrong. Submit 5-10 articles a day and you can make some decent cash with that.
Cons of Article Marketing:
- You need decent writing skills (or atleast your own personal style which stands out)
- If you do not have enough skill in this, you can hire a ghost writer. Though it might cost you some money. (then again, ghost writers are worth it if you can find a good one)
- Manual Submissions can be a drag. If only there was another way. Oh wait. There is. You can pay someone else to do it for you!
- You can also find a program to do it for you, but I truly do not trust these. I’ve heard mixed reviews.
- Articles can be time consuming
- Marketing these articles can be time consuming

Nice thoughts. Thanks for sharing
Another CON is that when sites copy your content without giving any credit on its source.

Article promotion could have negative impact on your website . There are several websites which are facing duplicate content issues due to article promotion.
Google sees article promotion as duplicate content promotion.

I think the main con in articles is the time it takes to write then post.

I find that article writing does work well, but if you are going to take that kind of time, why not become a contributot to a major industry blog and post blogs for some SERIOUS back links?
I guess it depends on the industry, but works for me...
Best;

Hi Eric,
You are absolutely right about blogs. Usually, after having written a new article, it is recommended to post it on your own blog and submit RSS feeds to FeedBurner, for example. Or to any social networking site, the users of which may find your article(s) interesting.
As soon as Google picks up your URL and indexes it, it will be fine to go and submit the text of your article to article directories. Thus, google will consider that your blog has a 100% original content, and there won't be any issues with duplicate content, regardless how many copies of your article would be distributed. You can even reword it a little bit. Practice shows, that people do read articles.
BTW, Brad Callen released a very good semi-automatic article submitter.
Good luck,

Thanks
Thanks for this, its exactly what I suspected for article marketing. I'm right in the middle of it now, it is quite time consuming, but it does get the links coming in! Thanks again

Thanks for your thoughts. I have seen that article marketing can be effective if done properly. Better to just submit one article to one site vs. submitting to multiple sites.

i agree in the "time-consuming" part but it is paid off specially when you earn from the articles and they drive traffic to your site

Thanks for sharing your thoughts! Yeah, an article writing can be effective if you are going to do it properly and every day. Also the article pages of your site must be specified by separate specific keyword.

I have used several article submission products over the past several years. Articlemarketer was somewhat so-so. I'm currently using Article Submitter Pro software. It's semi-automatic, as it caches passwords for you and populates forms automatically. The only thing you have to do on each site is select the category.
With AS Pro, I can submit about an article per minute. Not automatic, but faster than doing it manually.
The program accesses a frequently updated database of article directories and lets you sort them by Google PR. You can also set up a list of favorites. I usually submit to about 20 directories, all of which have PR4 or better.
Good program.

I agree with you at time consuming. I used to write 10 articles per day to get traffic. To be success with article marketing, we need either quantity or quality. If I have thousands of articles online, I will get lots of backlinks and visitors from these articles everyday.
If I have the quality, my articles might be featured in popular sites or high traffic websites.
After using article marketing for sometime, I've decided to use it for seo instead of getting traffic directly. I still write few articles everyday, but mostly for my blog and link building purpose.

there is no 'duplicate content penalty'. there is, however, a 'unique content bonus'.
On a related point, if you want to get maximum 'bangs per buck' from your articles, wrangle each one to make it unique before submitting to any particular article directory.

Pros –
It is a long term traffic generation strategy. After article, it has potential to bring you targeted traffic for years to come. Traffic is also highly targeted. It's easier to convert targeted visitors to buying customers. You can also use content to build credibility on Internet. It's low-cost way of building alertness for you and web businesses. Content marketing is simple to understand and execute. As long as you can write in simple English, you can start driving traffic. You don't need a Masters degree to be doing this.
Cons –
This traffic generation technique need much work. You must spend time writing and publishing articles. You do not do everything yourself though. You can hire writers to do work, and outsource article submission. But if a finance is worry, then do the work on your own.
