I think now its time to change our strategies with changing algorithms.
After the Panda update, article directories are losing their importance. Article directories produce duplicate content which may impact your rankings in a negative way.

As far as backlinks from such websites are concerned these are bunch of low quality backlinks.

Instead, opt blogging... It helps you in creating quality content. This helps in adding new content on your website and thus improving your SERP rankings.

No doubt it was the best strategy, but strategies change with changing algorithms, you can't stick to old stale techniques.

Since you adapt new technologies with changing times so you have to drop the techniques which are losing their importance.
I am not completely against the article marketing, I am just saying that we need to drop this strategy for sometime.

After the Google Panda update, I prefer adding the content on my site instaed of posting it on any article site. Recently these article sites lost a major portion of traffic due to the search engine Google. By the tanks for the pain of posting the list of article sites with pager rank, Alexa rank and traffic.

Yes that is true that some article directories have lost PR at Google due to Panda update. But has that been the fate of only article directories? No..!! It has affected the whole Online Marketplace.

Besides, the article directories have also gone advanced technically and this provides more backlinks to the authors.

I submit around 5 articles to ezine and Sooperarticles etc and when an article is properly written with correct English they promote that to Social Networks, Blogs, Web 2.0 and Social Bookmarking Sites. This way, multifaceted traffic is generated.

I have had some good success I hope same for others.

I totally agree with you. Ezine is still the best and the top choice if article submission is the chosen SEO implementation. It is hard to get approval but definitely worth all the hassles.
