I was always curious about such term as 'viral marketing' .
It's similar to talk about weapon or drugs 'marketing' which are illegal and harmful for everyone. So viral activity is prohibited and there is no definition for this.

The best marketing book I've read in 15 years online is this: wordofmouthbook.com (not my site or book) It's definitely worth a read.

The book encourages companies to (among other things) shift their budgets from advertising to customer services, so that your happy customers will do your advertising for you. The principle is very simple, and very smart. Happy customers have way more credibility than the merchant ever will.

So many marketing books are all about manipulating people with clever little games. The book I've linked to above shares a really different, and much more appealing, attitude.
