You must go for the following things:
1. Social Media - Facebook, Twitter, My space, Youtube
2. Social Bookmarking - Digg, Stumble Upon, Reddit, Slash Dot
3. Traffup.net - Website section and Retweets sections (promoting your website among millions of twitter users)
4. SEO - Don't go for advanced SEO. Just look out for general SEO tutorials for laymen.
5. Article Submissions websites and Forums - to promote your website and share its links.
