Create a lot of backlinks, make sure to have <H1> <H2> <H3> tags, bold your keywords a few times, make sure your keywords are in your page title

Try pinging your site using http://pingler.com/ and get back links and keep the blog active. The more you post "good" content the more google will check up on your site and rank you better.

You want to improve a business blogs page rank?

Here are the steps I use, I do not consider a blog 'open for business' without
at a MINIMUM these steps:

first thing list the blog at google dot com/webmaster/tools
verify that you own it, usually by adding a meta tag string

then repeat the same procedure with yahoo site explorer
verify that you own it with a meta tag string

then take care of the sitemap:
if it's a blogspot blog your site map url syntax is as follows:
/feeds/posts/default
append that to the end of your url and submit that to Google via webmaster tools.

If it's a wordpress.com you're going to have difficulty as wordpress does not allow edting of the meta tag
(PM me for details)

If your blog is a wordpress.org hosted blog do the same, but hunt for a plug in to handle the meta tag editing

Then burn the feed via feedburner (I don't care if feedburner is or isn't the best way to handle your feed... you want some thing from google, do you not? then use google's tools

I don't think there's any special treatment for sites intended to conduct online business or serve as the web portal and brochure for business. Build up back links, create an SNS presence, and target keywords in your niche and optimise on them.

I just realized I've been posting on a rather old thread, and that hardly anyone has discussed anything at length. All right, about the constantly mentioned "quality content," what does that mean, exactly? The layout and color and design of a site affects visitor experience, so shouldn't that count, in a way, as 'content,' too?
