controversy btw tumblr and spammers

I have been watching the last week the controversy with tumblr and the thirty day challenge. It seems that tumblr has removed all the "blogs" or journals of these people as they call them spammers and don't want them on their network.

On the other side of the fence, the others call themselves affiliate marketers. Admittedly, some of the people may have been innocent victims in all of this as they were only following instructions or the supposed tutorials.

1. What does everyone else think? Are they spammers?

2. Do you use other blogs, journals, squidoo, classifieds to promote your affiliate products?
