Offline advertising
Do you advertise your site offline or do you only rely on online advertising?
There are a lot of sites that gives out flyers or evn free t-shirts with their links on it.
Do you use this method?

I don't, but then again I just started. Sounds like a good idea. I might do that if my site gets more traffic.

I think most sites benefit from online advertising more than offline advertising. With my sites I would much prefer to do online advertising. I know for sure that most site urls / domains that I see in the offline paper or find somewhere else offline, I normally just bypass them and carry on what I'm doing or I may write it down or try to remember a certain url / domain.
If I see a link on another site then it will only take a few seconds to click thru on that link and check it out as you are on the internet already anyway.

I actually did offline advertising for one of my websites.
I did it with black and white flyers (half an A4 page) and with car stickers.
Not as good as online advertising

How did the advertising went?Did you get at least some visits?
Because I think that offline advertising will at least bring people to the site who are willing to discover the site.

The thing which I don't like about offline advertising is that it is hard to see whether it has paid off. If you already recieve hundreds of vistors a day, the difference might be too hard to see.

Offline advertising works if you target visitors from your locality. Otherwise it does not work if local residents are not potential clients or they may not benefit from what you can offer.

Thats a good point. Maybe this kind of advertising would work at large events which your target users attend. Most try sometime...

Offline advertising can be costly and less effective, mostly here in India. Offline advertising can be done on TVs, newspapers, but many people reading it might also not have internet connection. Here at my town, almost 70% of the population has no internet or phone connection that literally sucks.
Mostly offline advertising works for only some products/websites like Travel Agencies or Gaming sites etc and not for all.

I kind of disagree with you. Not always you target Indians or people not having internet connections. My website has most of the people from UK and USA, and there every house has internet. Even hotels, schools, universities and everywhere is internet. Its said that in UK, internet is more available than water. But I agree that offline advertising is useful for only some niches like you said. However they are very highly targetted traffic which is major benefit of such advertising. You can always give a try and see what works more for you, offline or online. I would prefer both actually.

I don't have my own site, and I think for a site, the best way to promote it is online ads .
if you want to sell other things like clothes, and food or other things, you can make ads offline, and it might get good effect.

YOu can do this method if you have some fund to waste. Promote using newspaper. magazine and flyers. If you brave and have a nice talk, you also can face to face with customer and try to attract them using your service or buy your stuff. Its really takes time to manage it..

If you do any offline advertising, use a different domain and have it redirected to your original one. This way you can track your offline and online advertising separate. I you don't have a tangible item to sell, then local offline advertising is a waste.
