As far as i know there are only few free blog hosting sites. Wordpress, blogspot and typepad are the only free blogging platform to which you can trust.

Using a hosting account you will be able to install wordpress in just few clicks via Fantastico application. Also, you can add unlimited sub-domains to your main domain via control panel. instead of creating another blog which will surely take a lot of time to be recognized by other web users, why don't you just put a blog in your main website, this was you won't need to optimize other sites.. all you need to do is focus on your main site.

By blog sites do you mean free blog hosting website? In that case you should get familiar with wordpress.com or blogspot.com

If you are looking for free blog script then just get to know wordpress.
