What Is Affiliate Marketing?

Affiliate marketing is basically getting a code from a company, pasting it into an advertisement and receiving money, when you make a sale. That’s the basics. The depth comes in when you try to use PPC and they won’t let you advertise your affiliate link. Keep in mind I only use PPC for split testing things, in the beginning. You can function with out a web site although it is better, when you have your own for tracking purposes.

The best advertising is free advertising. I suggest article marketing and forum marketing. It's a big ocean as one person has already replied. You'll need to research and make tests. Don't spend a lot of money because that’s not needed. You basically advertise your link one way or another.

not to mention the use of social media sites, ea twitter, facebook and myspace.. also local directories such as yelp, yahoo directory, linked in and many more.. you can also write something about your product on hubpages and squidoo.

Affiliate marketing is excellent way for earning. We must design landing page with affiliate offers and advertise in google adwords, i know many of the internet marketers earn millions from affiliate offers by using ppc in google adwords.

Yes I agree, article marketing and forum marketing is very effective. Take note to follow the white-hat method and everything will go smoothly.

thank you for getting to the point. I'm not too sure about all of these catch phrases, I'm a bit unclear about this part of what you just said:

"refering people to the designated site"

umm, what is the designated site?
who designated it?

I'm sorry for asking what I'm guessing everyone here already knows:
I'm an intern and I'm supposed to ask questions so I'm not constantly asking my boss what this is and what that is.

I think the best method of affiliate marketing is to make a website dedicated to an affiliate program, promote the website, and then you'll get sales through that.

This is why some affiliate marketing heads seek out high PR sites whose audience fit the niche of the affiliate product. That way, the affiliate marketing head won't have to do much promotion, since the affiliate sites are already high in PR.
