Good links to build that will get traffic would be links that are placed on very popular pages of a site. For quality traffic, then they would also have to be on pages that are highly related to your website and link.

I use to build links wherever I could whenever I got around to it. I wasted a lot of time until I discovered one way Do Follow links are the way to go.

For Google, they prioritized do-follows. Also, backlinks from .edu or .org are more authoritative. If you want to get real traffic, focus on organic seo.

Link building is a complex of 2 points: building links for getting higher rankings and building links just for bringing visitors. Some sites are good for traffic, others are good for rankings.

Quality these days is to be followed rather than quantity. Indeed, Squidoo is a great place for getting quality links, digg.com also. There are a lot of place from where you can squeeze good links.

It seems to me that acquiring links is getting much harder these days. There just seems to be too many crash and burn programs around that focus on near term benefits

Here's my List of Link Building Strategies that are still useful...

1. Directory Submission – it is useful if the directory has quality links and doesn't contain bad links. Check out my list of directories.

2. Forums Posting – links from other quality forums are ok but it's better if you will get links from related forums.

3. Blog Commenting – when I do blog commenting I make sure that the blog is related to my site.

4. Submission to Bookmarking Site – make sure that you don't spam the bookmarking site with lots of submission links from your site. Remember you need permanent link if you spam them, your link/account will get deleted. Check out my list of bookmarking site.

5. Yahoo Answer Posting – useful for frequently crawling of search engine.

6. Submission to Niche Directory – it's good to get links from niche directory. It adds value to your link relevancy.

7. Article Submission – it doesn't give high traffic but the keywords that is use as anchor text in article content helps to improved SERP.

8. Press Release Submission – like article the keywords in anchor text helps in SERP and also helps for promotional campaign.

9. Blog Post – if you have blog for the site that you were optimizing and has related blog post with keywords on content linking to your site, the keywords that you use as anchor text will help your site improved rankings. It also give traffic to your site.

When doing link building It doesn't matter to me whether the site is no-follow or do-follow as long as it's related to my site. I also don’t look for the PR of the site because if you want your site to have natural links you should not just build links to get links from do-follow with high PR site.

...best links for your site probably are dofollow links from other sites related with content of your site (and high PR).
That means, if you have site/blog about travel best links for you would be from other travel sites/blogs. Try not to put your links to unranked or PR0 sites/blogs, heard that is nor good for your serp performance.

Social net working site are very helpful for search engine rankings but few popular social net working sites can help you get traffic if you actively participate with them.

A link is a link, whether from .com or from .edu. Or at least that's why Google's Matt Cutts is preaching.

Link building is very necessary in SEO. You may get good links from forums, blog commenting and Articles.

It is highly recognizable to use beneficial resorts to get back links. The links should have good PR value. You could do follow up as an assessment, too.
