I haven't really tried email marketing for promoting a site but I heard that this is really useful for attracting new clients. You can always send out online newsletters especially for new promotions and product introductions.

Email marketing during the holidays is often not very effective.
Make sure recipients of your email marketing message know what you expect them to do
Move the boring stuff down the page, and greet recipients with your best offer instead.
Never fiddle with your subscribers' email addresses, not even if they obviously can't type.
Avoiding having people enter @htomail.cmo and @yhoo.com in the signup form for your newsletter.

EMail Marketing is indeed the epitome of online marketing and for any business that wish to go online. Not only your email marketing lists are considered an asset value to the business, it is a sure fire way to close sales because its probably the most consistent way in getting in touch with your clients 7 times in a row. For the accomplished email marketeer, its like issuing their own cheques each time they send their promo. emails. You should give it a go.

Even when marketing messages are from known senders 56 percent considers it spam if the messages don't happen to be interesting to them.
so think twice before the action

What sort of email?
In its broadest sense, the term covers every email you ever send to a customer, potential customer or public venue. In general, though, it's used to refer to:
* Sending direct promotional emails to try and acquire new customers or persuade existing customers to buy again
* Sending emails designed to encourage customer loyalty and enhance the customer relationship
* Placing your marketing messages or advertisements in emails sent by other people
Give me an analogy...
You can think of these three main forms of email marketing as the electronic equivalent of:
* Direct mail
* Sending people a print newsletter
* Placing advertisements in subscription magazines and newspapers
There is, however, one extremely important difference - the issue of permission (see later).
Why is email marketing so popular?
Email marketing is so popular because:
* sending email is much cheaper than most other forms of communication
* email lets you deliver your message to the people (unlike a website, where the people have to come to your message)
* email marketing has proven very successful for those who do it right
For more information, see the article Why do email marketing?.
Let's briefly review the three types of email marketing:
1. Direct email
Direct email involves sending a promotional message in the form of an email. It might be an announcement of a special offer, for example. Just as you might have a list of customer or prospect postal addresses to send your promotions too, so you can collect a list of customer or prospect email addresses.
You can also rent lists of email addresses from service companies. They'll let you send your message to their own address lists. These services can usually let you target your message according to, for example, the interests or geographical location of the owners of the email address.
2. Retention email
Instead of promotional email designed only to encourage the recipient to take action (buy something, sign-up for something, etc.), you might send out retention emails.
These usually take the form of regular emails known as newsletters. A newsletter may carry promotional messages or advertisements, but will aim at developing a long-term impact on the readers. It should provide the readers with value, which means more than just sales messages. It should contain information which informs, entertains or otherwise benefits the readers.
3. Advertising in other people's emails
Instead of producing your own newsletter, you can find newsletters published by others and pay them to put your advertisement in the emails they send their subscribers. Indeed, there are many email newsletters that are created for just this purpose - to sell advertising space to others.

Email marketing is a good way to advertise your product and promote your brand but we careful that you don't spam people.

The introduction on email marketing is informative, and presented in straightforward language that spells out what it is. Thanks for sharing.

I agree email marketing is inexpensive. It could also be intrusive and annoying when not done right.

There are a number of great posts here already, but I'd advise looking into Constant Contact to handle your email marketing. You start around $15 a month and they give the best support of anyone I've ever dealt with!
Additionally, for each paying member they give the service to a charity for free. If you pay, talk to local charities about helping them send a monthly newsletter-you get your company name on the bottom along with your website link. It's a GREAT marketing ploy, for a good cause!

I have been doing email marketing through hostgater and aplus web hosters. It is a well research field and people should also take care of spamming .As google and yahoo are experts in detecting that.

Most of the people who visit your site will never buy. In fact, if your website produces a 1% conversation rate your website is considered successful.
In most cases, that means that 99 out of every 100 people who visit your site will leave and never come back ...ever.
By offering something of high perceived value absolutely free to your website visitors, in exchange for their name and email address, you can capture a much larger number of people into your marketing system.
