1. Article Submissions: Just create a short article about your services as niche as possible and submit it to high PR Article submission sites it will surely help in extending number of backlinks.
2. Submit site to Directories:This is a pretty monotonous process that can get you several hundred backlinks. An alternative would be to hire a manual directory submitter.
3. Comment on Blogs: Start commenting on relevant and popular sites in your niche. Don’t just spam for links but focus on building a relationship with other bloggers as well.
4. Reciprocal Links with Similar Websites:Its important to pick sites that are of high relevance so you’ll not only get links but traffic. Reciprocal linking can be useful from the beginning but don’t overdo it. Prefer three way reciprocal links to avoid google penalty.
5. Submit Press Releases to PR Sites:A basic press release about your website’s launch can be released to several PR websites, who will distribute it to various online news outlets
6. Web 2.0 Pages:A Various free services are available to create free web 2.0 pages like a Squidoo lens is fairly easy to create. It only takes around 15 minutes to set up one fully and you’ll be able to insert a bunch of anchor text links to your website.
7. Social Bookmarking:Certain social bookmarking sites like Digg or del.ic.ious are often crawled by search engines and do help to get a website indexed. They also help you to increase traffic to your website and also provide you free backlinks.
8. Forum Signatures: Sign up for some forums in your niche and start contributing to ongoing discussions. Insert a link to the homepage or some inner pages of your site.
Some forums provide you backlinks very quickly and no doubt visitors will come to know about your services.

If I had to boil this list down to only one suggestion I would stick with number 6. Web 2.0 sites are the best option available today, if executed properly. However, most people stop with setting up profiles (think link building packets) here and they miss many opportunities.

Trading links is not a good option now. I prefer to build links through bookmarking, dofollow blog commenting and web & article directories submitting.

Hi, johninspire; I agree with your point of view. Analyze competition is an important step as our aim is to rank our website in the 1st page. Furthermore, choosing a high paid keyword also determine $$ we earn from adsense.

I would avoid link trades at this point and opt for backlinking via forums and blog commenting. Link exchanges are starting to become frowned upon by Google. If you do them just make sure you acquire high PR sites that are directly related to your site's content and subject matter. Otherwise it may hurt you more than help. Also know that you are giving away powerful link juice from your site whenever you link to anything off-site.

One way backlinks building is the only process that I have ever used. I have tried almost everything except link exchanges and we have done very very well. Somethings work better than others that for sure!

Keyword research for an affiliate site is one of the most important things you can do. I used to do a relatively small amount of research, but now I spend almost as much time on keyword/niche research as I do building the actual site itself. It's paid off handsomely.
