Default Have you ever Googled yourself?

Go to Google (or your favorite other SE) and enter your first and last names inside the quotation marks. How many results to you get, and how many of those results are actually you instead of someone else with your same name?

Google shows 44 (12 are me)
Yahoo gives me 29 (8 are me)

Just tried it and guess what I am quite famous .

Google shows 10,200 results for my name and I checked the first ten pages and out of that 4-5 links were referring to some one else, rest were me , will try this out on yahoo later.

I tried it and 85,600 results where displayed for my name. I don't know how many are mine though as I didn't check, but I know there are at least a few thousand because I have distributed over 100 articles with my name as the author.

Don't know if you remember this but when AOL had "accedently" released that huge doc of all the people's "search tendencies" most of those searches were people searching for their name and oddly enough their SSN

That's a good idea! I just googled my SSN and thankfully, 0 results! That's information that you wouldn't want on the internet! I could see why people would google it to make sure it wasn't posted on a website somewhere.

Yep, that's something you don't really want on other sites, but don't forget that if you type it into Google then you have automatically put it into their stats. Google keeps all the information of what keywords and phrases get typed into their search box, how many times a day each keyword or phrase gets typed in, etc.

Everyone should be safe though as I can't see Google doing anything with them.

Look what happened with AOL when a piece of that list got leaked I am sure they didn't want to do anything with it. But it still happened cause humans make errors. I think I still have that list somewhere on my computer it was huge and wasnt even a big chunk of the user base.

So true. If something happened to your SSN with Google I am sure it will only be because of human error.

I have over 10 000 results on my name. But with my last name being very popular a lot of listings aren't me. But then again a few are. So i guess i am famous, even if it is only on a search engine.

I don't think I wont get alot of results for my actual name (around 20 or so maybe), but my nick gets me, hold your breath, 3,070 results on google. Is that a record or what.
