How to Select a right office chair?
How many hours you sit in front of the computer during work?
To me at least 10 hours during working days.
So a right ergonomical chair is essential to protect
your backbone or spine.
So how to pick a right ergonomic office chair?
I have found a few points that may help you to decide:
1.) The Height of the Seat
It should be adjustable and around 16 - 21
inches off the floor.
2.) suitable width and depth
The seat should be wide enough. Typically the standard width
is 17-20 inches and the depth (measured from the front of the chair
to back of the seat) should enough that the user's back against the
backrest
3.) Lumbar support for the lower back
4.) backrest width should be 12-19 inches wide
5.) armrest. easy to be adjusted
There are many points as well but the above are the main five.

This is pretty handy. Most people just go and buy the cheapest chair they can find, and then wonder why they're sore and what not during the days and nights. A chair is sort of like a pair of shoes. If you go cheap, and don't try them out, your feet will start hurting. It's good to get a chair to fit your needs, especially if you work at home.

Nice information! Thanks for sharing it.
Have you ever do physical exercises? The thing is that sitting all days long in a chair is not good. As for me I play football with my colleagues one day a week and this is pretty good for me I think.

I use an Aeron. They can cost between $750-$1000 but they are worth it. Think about it, if you spend 8 hours a day, 5 days a week for 3 years that is 6000 hours. That works out to about 10 cents an hour. Well worth it to avoid back pain.

well i have what i thought was the perfect ergonomic chair after switching from an 'ordinary' chair, but it turns out my lower back would still hurt... what i did though is i'd regularly have a quick break to stretch my back, legs etc...

These are very interesting tips on selecting the office chair. Most people also spend a lot of time in front of the PC and I think this is actually an important factor.

Some tips for selecting the right office chair:
Select a chair that is the right height for your body. The headrest should be in line with the back of your head. Select a chair which the seat can be adjusted and also in which the armrest can also be adjusted, so that it will be able to fit under your desk when working on the computer. A chair with a tilt mechanism to the area supporting your back can also be useful. This sort of mechanism on the right office chair will mean that much less stress is being placed on your spine and back throughout the day.
