Default Why File Bankruptcy when there’re Debt Settlement Companies

Credit Card Debt crisis is wide-spread today. Often debtors realize that there are in deep trouble only when they are swamped by continuous creditor calls and massive debts. Unable to handle the burgeoning financial burden, most debtors resort to filing bankruptcy. With the existing laws becoming more severe, a bankruptcy would mean a very negative credit record and a long-term impact in the form of lower credit eligibility.

Others, on the other hand continue their minimum monthly payments, in the hope that they would be debt-free soon. But what these debtors fail to realize is that they are paying only the interest on the debt, and that they could run into years paying their creditors.

Debt settlement is an effective alternative available to debtors, and there are several reliable companies offering such services.

What debt settlement companies actually do is that they negotiate with creditors on behalf of the debtor, to reduce the owed sum to an amount that is acceptable to both the debtor and the creditors. Payment of such a sum releases the debtor from the debt. Creditors are in favor of a Debt Settlement Program for it would pay them at least in part unlike bankruptcy where they would be left with nothing.

Well obviously Debt settlement companies are far better solution than the bankruptcy solution ,for both parties .

I am not as sure about that as you seem to be right now. For the credit issuer, who gets some money rather than none, settlement seems a better choice.

But with all the negatives associated with settlement, settlement paints big negative strokes on a person's credit. Settlement seems to destroy the personal credit for years to come, where BK offers a very clean break within the credit world.

Do you agree?

Debt settlement is no doubt a good solution, but I would vote more for debt consolidation rather.

In bankruptcy there is something called 'Debt Restructuring' which is an option agreed by the creditors. They negotiate on the delinquent debts and offer a fixed time to the debtors to liquidate. This happens in the earlier stages or chapters of bankruptcy. Debt consolidation is usually advised for people who have to pay off their huge credit card bills. These individuals or businesses do not opt to file for bankruptcy. The lending groups help the individuals while the attorneys help them file a petition for bankruptcy.

I'm not sure if I will agree to this that well. BK offcourse could be a li'l better for the person because he doesn't have to pay thereafter but for the creditors settlement is a better option out of the two .As far as negative strokes are concerned they are equally bad in case of BK as well .

Default Debt Consolidation Loans

ebt consolidation entails taking out one loan to pay off many others. This is often done to secure a lower interest rate, secure a fixed interest rate or for the convenience of servicing only one loan.
