If Google colapsed, the internet wouldn't skip a beat. The web is much larger than google. Yahoo or Bing would probably pick up a lot of google's action.

I just cant see the situation arriving where that will happen anyway, but like other people have said, bing ect. would just increase, business would lose out as well though, as they will have worked for years to get to where they are with a steady flow of vistors (bloggers ect.), so would have a very large repercusion

No need to worry for this coz there are so many minded and needy folks are here who need this system more than us and one thing is fact that it mind only who invented google so if google colapsed then more enhansed alternative will invented which will last forever.

Right now also there are many capable competitor who ready to prove themselves as better and best as google.

In this world no one is indispensable. Same is the case with Internet. If Google Collapses, there are many others waiting in the wings to take its place.

Google won't collapse until the web is there. once web will Collapse there will be some thing new may be Apps. remember when on-line chatting services collapsed, social media sites took over. When web will be collapsed some thing new will enter.

If google collapsed it wouldn't be too big of a deal. All the search engines have similar algorithms mainly based on links and content. So other search engines would take over - probably bing or yahoo and other search engines would probably be popping up.

This is very very difficult to make google collasped, and if happens then no worries, there are a lot of other search engines. But the google is best and biggest among all.

I cannot envision a scenario in which Google collapses that would not also cripple any of Google's competitors
