As the title says, what's the best way to earn from a website?

Is it selling your own products, affiliate marketing or what?

Realistically it's probably selling your own products, but then you have a lot more work to do when it comes to dealing with customer equires/service, etc. You also have the upfront cost of having to buy the products, unless you use a dropshipper or something along them lines.

I personally prefer affiliate marketing as you don't have to directly deal with the customers and you don't have that upfront cost, but then with affiliate marketing you have to watch out from scams, poor affiliate tracking of leads/sales, etc. But as long as you go with a good reputable affiliate program or two, you should be alright.

Yes, I too go with Dave Spencer, that to sell own product, you really have to do a lot work in starting and also you need to invest some good amount.

So promoting as an affiliate will be a great deal as you don’t need to invest anything and earn money by just refering. But you have to sure that you choose a reliable affiliate program that pays you a good money in return.

It all depends on your business idea and what your product. If you are selling any product on your website, try your best to bring visitors on your website. More the number of visitors, more are the chances. Social media marketing can be very beneficial in such cases.

Yes you are right but if the website do not have its own product and the business is different, in such cases you have to adopt any other strategy.

Well, if you have knowledge in writing and SEO, that's the best way to earn from your website.. Find a niche, write content, then optimise.. after it rank put advertisement, like ads, or affiliates then you will earn...

You really hit the pain point that many bloggers have: How do I make money from blogging? Everyone will not admit it but there is often a desire to gain revenue beyond positioning yourself as an expert or blogging your book.

I prefer selling your own products/service since you will have all the sales from it but this also means you shoulder everything. The bottomline is go with what really works for you, affiliate marketing works for some who got the time to market many products and at the same time earns lot from too.

Affiliate marketing is the best way, as long as your content guides your visitors naturally to the affiliate links.

Earning with google adsense is one of an good way, but for that you need to own a website or blog. If you have a good amount of traffic in your website then adsense will definitely work for you. If you don't own a website then you can choose a affiliate program to earn money online without investing any money.

Squidoo lenses is the one of a good way to earn money, but it is a slow process and it takes time to earn a good amount of money, as squidoo share their revenue to their users who brings a good amount of traffic. So instead of trying Squidoo, you can choose any other way to earn money online.
