Although Pay per click mechanism is now a days became so much famous for earning money by site. But there are some type of reservations also that in case of invalid "friendly" clicks, there are chances that Google spiders will detect it & blocked you.

Pay per lead is where you get paid on an action type of thing, say someone clicks on a link on your site and then signs up to someone on the affiliate site, well you've given them a lead meaning you get paid for that lead.

Yes, basically this is what Pay Per Lead is, comparing with PPC, it's a little bit more difficult, but you earn more through it, of course.

I think both have their own existence as most of the seo specialist are working on affiliate programs as they are more effective in some cases.
