Does One less character mean trouble?

Hi guys,
I wanted to register a domain name ，I shortlisted this domain after searching around for a long time. Just when everything seemed perfect and I was about to register, out of plain curiosity, I checked the domain for an extra character..and voila! there was already a domain that was registered with that extra character.
Now if I go on and register the new domain,will I be in any kind of trouble - legally or otherwise?

Unless your domain name contains a trademark keyword.

Existing other domains similar to your are fine
