Default Idle domain names

I have five (5) domain names sitting idle which I got from a promo offer. I still have to figure out how to make money out these given that I don't have the time to develop sites. Is parking these domain names the best option?

Parking isnt the best option but if the domains are getting traffic and you dont have the time to develop, cash parking isnt a bad way to make a few dollars. Personally if I have domains laying idle I just throw up a proxy or redirect to one of my active projects.

Setting up a proxy site could be one option. One problem however is that you need at least a VPS account to run a proxy site. There are those webhost providers which allow proxy sites under shared hosting account but they don't appear reliable.

If they are adult domains don't plan on using Adsense to monetize them anymore if they are parked. I believe they are prohibiting the use of Adsense on adult domain parked pages now, as of a week or so ago I believe.

Redirecting your idle domain names to your active websites is another option. But does it matter if the sites are related to the domain names? I believe search engines do not penalize sites with multiple domain names provided you use the redirect directive of your webserver.

My income has take such a nosedive in parked domains that I am not sure it is worth it anymore. I used to do well with my idle names but now I have started developping them.

Even if you do not have time to develop them yourself, it may be possible to outsource the tasks if you have a little extra cash to spare.

As mentioned previously, I would recommend outsourcing the development or simply hold onto them. It seems that the domains are being sucked up lately by large companies who want to resell them. If they have are relative to any market or niche then they are only increasing in value as time goes by.

No, search engines do not penalize a domain names that are redirected to another site. The problem used to be when, before the redirect, people were first putting up a spam page of keywords to try and fool the search engines to get that domain a high ranking, after which it redirected that traffic to the real site.

My suggestion would be to park them if they are idle, after all some thing is better than nothing. If you make some money off of them then good, else they weren’t making any in the first place.

It would only take a few minutes to develop them. Throw together some content, pop it in a free template, and add the ads! It doesn't take long!
