Do you think that .com's are more preferrable or you are happy with other domain name extensions? I see that a lot of people with not much knowledge are in a habbit of putting .com without paying much attention, even me sometimes. So does that mean that other extension domain just lose a visitor everytime one made a mistake?
I also agree that .com's are the most popular. I much prefer to use .com's if I want people to look at my site from all over the world.
The only time I wouldn't really want to use a .com, is if I was doing a UK product price comparison or something like that, I would then prefer a .co.uk, but that's only because I would really mainly want UK visitors, and when I do have US or visitors from other countries, I would want them to know that it is a UK product price comparison straight away from looking at the tld.

Each TLD has its own use. In my case I choose the TLD appropriate for my site. If it is a business site I choose .COM or .BIZ. If it is intended for a non profit site I opt for .ORG. The .COM TLD is undoubtedly the most popular.
