Don't make the mistake of attempting to retrofit your domain name to your business or website. thefreecountry.com did not originally start out with that name, and I encountered a huge hassle (and lost visitors) as a result of the URL changes. Don't make that mistake too.

When choosing a domain name, it depends on what type of website you're going to create. In my opinion, if you are going to create some type of e-commerce website, i would suggest a keyword rich domain such as bluewidgets.com. If a .com is not available try .net. But if you're just creating a "normal" website that you're not trying to make money off of, than i would just pick a domain that sounds unique and easy to remember.
