After Panda update article directories lost their dominance on search results, though many of them are catching up again.

Instead, you can try with blogging... It is far more effective technique than article submission / marketing.

They'll turn to FREE backlinks from the article directory you submit to, if they easily get approved that is since from the vast updates Google has been rolling out, article directories have been even more strict in terms of the articles they approve. Good Luck, since you'll definitely need it if you plan to go with it.

Though the rewards will definitely be helpful for article directories out there have high PR and AR.
