I don't know why people are found of DMOZ directory, I dont have any knowledge about it, can you guys share it here..

I have heard this name about a 100 times, is it good for sites PR and backlinks???

It's also a question of prestige. If you want to sell a website and it's in DMOZ I bet it would count a lot.

It is good in terms of backlink quality. Google directory takes data from DMOZ directory so if your site gets accepted in DMOZ you will get two backlinks one from DMOZ and other from Google directory. But its approval rate is very low and it takes ages to accept a site.
