Default using directories as link exchanges

Are people putting up directory sites now and using those as their link exchange pages?

I really need a script to manage my link exchanges and can't find anything I really like.

I have a directory script that I bought so I thought maybe I should just use that.

What are you guys using?

Did you mean directories that require reciprocal links?

Exchanging links with other related websites will have much benefit as compared to directories.

Take for example if one web design company is ranking high for "web design canada", and there is one web promotion company ranking high for "web promotion canada". In this situation both these sites could actually score higher rankings by exchanging links ( since both are within niche).

It is best to remain within your niche while exchanging links

I always advise to skip the directories that require reciprocal linking. You get no SEO value from them.

Default Hi Wesley

Hi Wesley

The days of reciprocal links seems to be over since last year. Concentrate on getting quality backinks from other sites, it will be so much better.

Directory Submission is now losing its importance. There are many other ways for link building like blog commenting, blog posting, forum posting etc

Directories still has the same importance. On blogs and forums if you post site owners will ban your ip of delete your comments if they found your comment useless. But in directories you don't need to create any nice content to submit. Just your site, title description and url and its will get approve soon in most of the directories.

Yes, indeed. Directories haven't lost their significance yet. There are still some directories which are very beneficial as they do give instant approval and free.

Now, directories will get the importance again as a research has shown that google is now using local directories for their search results. Due to that directories will again have that huge flow soon once everyone is aware of it.

Well I would suggest you to exchange links within the same niche rather then anything else because eventually you draw a lot of benefit from there.

I think directory is still a nice resource for your link building campaign! However you need to choose the good ones to submit your links to (high page rank, relevant link page and low outgoing links)

As per me none of the link building task have lost their significance yes sometimes it will take time to come up with desired results but we cannot say that 'Its Useless'

According to my personnal experiences, I am the one who regularly perform directory submission along with others task from last 5 mths and also never done reciprocal link but then also I get what I want. Site on which I am working is improved and comes at 1 page.

I do only manual submissions at most 100 submissions each day and I think you should also go like this as it looks a natural approach to Google.
