Default Do you signup at reciprocal link directories?

I have come across a lot of directories which ask for a link back ie. reciprocal link. Most often than not, I just ignore these directories and move on to others, what about you?

Do you put up a reciprocal link to that directory on your site or do you just move on to another one?

Reciprocal links are usually free or cheaper so they are the better option for users who want backlinks but cant affor to pay. Also as a directory owner the only reciprocals Ive ever gotten have been with other directory owners submitting me in their directory. Even if only 1 or 2 people submit a reciprocal, its good for the directories pr which lets the directory charge more.

Personally though I just move on, i know too many free directories to waste time with reciprocals.

AffiliateSeeking will become famous soon enough
Even if the directory was not a PR6 and needed a reciprocal link I will still join some of them. The reasons for this is because some of the directories where I have previously submitted a niche type site lists most of my competitors and seems to rank well in the search engines so I would then get my site listed on their site aswell. When I trade links I mainly do it for the traffic benefits, but if I get some PR gain aswell then all the better. PR doesn't really mean much these days, but it still is nice to have a good PR site as people always talk about it and are then more likely to link to it.

Exactly my sentiments, also I don’t feel adding a link to a directory adds value to my site or helps users of my website, which at least for me is of more importance then pagerank.

If you have a links page that you can bury it on then I would add a recip, but a site has to really be of some value for me to put any kind of link on my front page. A lot of blog links require this on your blog roll. I still think natural linking is the way to go to really increase your search engine ranking and traffic.

Well Yogesh, They needs backlinks thats why they ask for a backlinks, so why not you put the backlinks on the site, it is a bit of big work but no problem is in it.

Reciprocal linking has shown to be less effective, plus it takes more work. Keeping track if they keep your link up, etc.

You give more value to the directory that requires reciprocal linking than what you actually get from it. My suggestion is to lay off submitting to them and rather submit to quality and well-maintained (free and paid) directories with high PR and has good traffic.
