Default Wikipedia

How is Wikipedia classified? Is this a directory? I noted that even commercial web sites are now listed with substantive information. This appears to be a good way to promote your site.

I thought (only my opionion) that when wiki..... started, it was supposed to be in rivalry of the encyclopedias. In fact, several of the major encyclo executives have been interviewed and they are soooooooo unhappy with wiki...... for a couple reasons.

1. people are not buying encyclopedias for many reasons but one being they can get the info for free on the internet and some people think wikipedia is a legit source

2. they are disgusted with the inaccurate info in wiki......
Basically not all the info is fact and yet wikipedia is being construed as an expert when it is not.

The reason you see commercial links now is because everyone has found that they can exploit the platform by writing their nonsense pretending to be an expert and linking to their own sites.

Well Wiki is a large source of information- it has a search function that traverses its database trying to query your search. It then displays all appropriate- or similiar search objects.

All in all, I'd say it's a 'kind' of directory. That's just my opinion though.

Vx.

Getting listed in Wikipedia is very difficult, if not impossible. You really need a news worthy or a site that is seen as being valuable.

Wikipedia is not a directory. And even more. It's almost impossible to include your commercial site there...
