Default DMOZ woes

I have made several attempts but all in vain. Anyone here with success in listing their sites in DMOZ? I could not seem to get the right approach. If you have some tips maybe you can list them down here.

I don't even try anymore - not that I am saying that is the right thing to do. But it is so aggravating. I read somewhere else that the backlog of pages and some problems with the editors have brought the acceptance of sites to a standstill.

It used to be so easy to get into DMOZ particularly in a local section. I found it easier to get listed as local city listing than national.

As said in dmoz guidelines, submit to the deepest sub category you know where your site suits. For eg, My site should be listed at Computers/Internet/On_the_Web/Weblogs/FAQs,_Help_and_Tutorials/
This will make your reviewing process quick. Although editors have an option to transfer a site to another sub category, but they generally don’t do that.

I gave up on DMOZ a long time ago, and instead try to pick up expiring domains that already have a DMOZ listing. I have heard the same things about backlogs and editors quibbling, and I haven't been able to get a listing from them for a long time. Go the expiring domain route and it will be a lot easier.

Getting into Dmoz is rather difficult these days. I have never personally got any sites into Dmoz, which is a pain especially when you have your competitors listed in there and some of your competitors has even got more than one listing. I know one competitors site that has 3 listings in Dmoz.

I have been waiting for over 4 years for some of my sites and still no joy. The thing with Dmoz is just like any other directory on the web. This is that once you submit your site, the best thing to do after that is to move on. Don't worry about it as the quicker you move onto the next directory or marketing task, the better and quicker you will grow your site.

I have had the same experience. They have not accepted my site for around ten goes now. And the funny thing is my sites are all well reknown. So it really says a lot about them. I also heard they only accept premium sites, only in it for the cash.

If memory serves me right, there is no paid listing or review at DMOZ. It is a voluntary directory and has grown bigger than it should have.

It sures take time to get indexed into dmoz as I think that there are a lot of sites waiting to get reviewed. If you want your site to get into it you must be sure that it has good content and also have a lot of patience.

I even learn dmoz about a month or so.That makes your domain more valuable then before if it is listed in dmoz but it is very hard to make your site listed in there.I personally have good content on my site.
