How directories effect SEO on our website? I mean I dont do directory submission but want to know submitting websites to directories can effect seo and what types of directories one should submit there website??
Directory Submission is useful to get some quality links to the site if they are good at High PR and the most important thing that they should be good at approval.
Directory submission is not that effective as it use to be in the early days of SEO.Look for only high PR directories in your niche and paid ones are better than wasting time on the free list.
Indeed, directory submission is a good optimization technique... directories like DMOZ, Yahoo! gives you very strong backlinks and a good exposure.
In my opinion, you should submit your website to only reputed directories. There is no benefit of submitting your website to junk directories, they just give a bunch of crappy backlinks.

You aren't going to get a whole lot of positive effect from directory submissions. They certainly don't work nearly as well as they did years ago. But they do still help a little. The links add up. If you aren't spending much time or money submitting to them then you might as well do it.
