Default Please suggest any platform for data base

I want to make a database for a school ... want to keep the records of all departments of school.....
want to make a database ... which language i should use ? visual basic is ok ?

i think mysql is the good platform to work with the database design. because it is more user friendly after the updation.

hi..
when it was the starting of the computer and need of the database to manage the data excel is used but now you have many choices as you can use the mysql server, oracle and like this. mysql is most popular nowadays.

My sql is better than all other databases. But it is only my point of view.
