As far as I know a computer is a device or machine for making calculations or controlling operations that are expressible in numerical or logical terms. Computers are constructed from components that perform simple well-defined functions.

That is true, computer is just a machine which is acting through some software it is the muscle which is acting through the order from the brain, and the premier cause is "The person intention"

the word "computer" is derived from a latin word "compute" which means "to calculate".
A good defination can be: "computer is an electronic which receives data, process it according to given instrucions, stores data and give output".
