Windows XP is the best, When i was of 10 Years my brother had installed XP to check it, he had made his computer very slow, but when i had installed it runs like butter.

I love windows 98 - even when I bought my new computer, I had them install 98.
My mother has XP and I find it to be such a nuissance. Things I can do in one step in 98 take several steps in XP. For someone like my mother who doesn't understand computers, she finds it very difficult.
It is not as intuitive as 98 and I really cannot understand myself how people learn on it.
only my opinion, though

Obviously Windows XP. Due the looks, the extra features, ease of use especially in networking. Windows 98 really lags in the networking department.

Windows 98 also lags in Java, you can play every type of game in XP at a good speed.

I think I'd have to go with XP. Microsoft no longer supports anything below XP and so 98 suffers from numerous vulnerabilities. I had issues getting used to to XP at first, but now XP has become the Windows standard. 98 is now outdated and it wouldn't be a good idea to choose 98 or XP.

I too didn't want to give up windows 98 but as soon as I tried XP, I never looked back. If you have to use Windows, XP is the way to go.

My boss gave me an installer. But until now I'm scared - haha what a term -- to install it. Sometimes it's just so hard to leave something that you're used to.

Yeah I know exactly what you mean. But what if you find that it's way better than what you're used to? Eh, eh?

I'm really thinking of installing it probably in another laptop. I think that's the safest thing to do. But then no matter how new or latest a certain thing is when you're not used having it, you'll end up doing things all wrong.

The latest Offering from Microsoft's DOS stable,Windows Vista has come under heavy criticism by numerous companies and groups.Criticisms of Windows Vista have included concerns about the security implications of the large amounts of new code, the inclusion of a number of new Digital Rights Management technologies aimed at restricting the copying of digital media, and the usability of the new User Account Control security technology.Additionally, reviewers have noted similarities between the Vista interface and that of Apple's Mac OS X operating system. Concerns have also been raised about many PCs not meeting "Vista Premium Ready" hardware requirements.
And as for the OS XP is prefered to 98 as it has a better loading capacity and chances of running games that require good GB space is better.

Yes this is one thing that I'm also thinking. I think it could have been more practical for the companies and people involved to release a PC that meets Vista requirements rather than doing it the other way around.
