It's good to use Win Vista but it can not be compare to Win XP as it is more faster than Vista. If your laptop configuration is high then it's fine to use vista!

Windows Vista makes everything so hard, from saving a file into installing/ uninstalling a program. Compared to XP, it's much slower too. If you are looking to upgrade your OS soon, choose Windows 7. I think it's the best choice.

I think I'll stick with XP as Vista takes up so much RAM and I'd probably have to delete quite a bit before I could run it. I've heard an awful lot about Vista too that puts me off even thinking about it seriously. Do keep us updated on how it works out for you on your new laptop though Frank as I'd be really interested to hear what you think of it.

Support for Windows Vista without any service packs installed ended on April 13, 2010. To continue receiving security updates for Windows, make sure you’re running Windows Vista with Service Pack 2 (SP2).
