more than one instance of wordpress installed

Do you think you can install WP more than once on a domain name? I am thinking of using a global domain I have and then setting up 10 niches within the domain.

I would want to install 10 instances of WP because each niche would be its own site.

I personally can't see a problem server-side because I don't think it is any different than 10 different domains. But I still wonder???

If a niche is really busy traffic-wise, can too many installations bog down all the sites??

google for "multiuser wordpress" or "wordpress mu" and enjoy

i've run around 500 diff WP(MU) on a p4 2000Mhz celeron with 1Gb RAM in a intranet without any problems ...

I am so glad you stopped by feelx. I have tried everywhere to find the information but obviously I was using the wrong search words.

I have asked so many people as well and no-one knew what I was talking about but in reading the page from wordpress, it is exactly what I am looking for.

it is good to know also, that it is so robust (you say you run 500).

a friend told me from a webhoster has running a lot more ... with a powerfull serverhardware no problem it seems ...
