word press appearance not uniform

I;ve changed my design a couple times on word press. When I do that, though, there are problems with the font both in appearance and coloring.

The font does not seem to pick up the font from the new css file. So what happens is every time I changed the design, each post looks different.

I only want the text to be verdana or arial so it is consistent. The new css reflects that but the old posts do not.

How come?
