You must know before using WordPress as a CMS what WordPress does and what it does not do. The only way to really learn this is to get in there and start experimenting. With a little practice and the help of plugins you can get something good.

I have used it a little bit. It has the fluid interface that made wordpress blog so popular but I don't know how well it can perform the harder tasks. It is reasonably priced though.

Well, i think drupal and jhoomla are the most popular open source CMS available. There is no other good option for them.

Yes, WP is no longer a blogging system, lots and lots of investor, developer and internet markter use WP as cms, and more than that e-commerce site.
I have a client whose business is in niche sites, they have thousands of clients across United States that uses WP alone, as CMS. for Mni sites or affiliate sites.

I'm also using wordpress. It's a good platform not only for blogs but also for e-commerce sites.

Hi! I'm with nancysparx - WP is the best CMS - clear, simply configurable, a lot of themes, possibility to configure the lokk as you want.
I'm using Wordprees for pretty much everything - small online business cards, complex websites, blogs.
I heard that you can even make a webstore on WP.

Yes you can use wordpress as CMS especially if you are planning for a blog. If you want to use for your website which is not blog there are two ways.
1. you can create pages without any blog post to look as website.
2. If you have good knowledge in SEO, consider to use tag as your main category page which will help you gaining high ranking.
