vbulletin is the better forum software but I have never really found it to be worth the 180 fee, so I just use simplemachines which is a free forum I prefer to phpBB.

I like vBulletin better and it only cost me $85 USD for a year! The script is great and there are hundreds of mods and themes for it.
phpBB is okay but I don't really like the overall theme of it.

Vbulletin is better, thats why its a paid forum. I have only had one forum and was skint so i used phpbb which was good enough for me, there is enough mods but if its going through i security issues then i would steer away from it for now

Personally I prefer vbulletin over phpbb especially in terms of security but I doubt that it is worth the fees.
You could use smf with the same success.

vBulletin is the best. No doubts if you are going in for a paid script.
For a free script i would suggest that you use SMF rather than phpBB.

I love the iTrader feature in vBulletin. Does anyone know whether it is also availible for other forum scripts, like SMF and phpbb?

PHPBB if you just started and needs not to invest $$$

VBulletin if you have budget and this system offers more security and features.

I think Vb is better than Phpbb, though it is expensive you get all all your doubts cleared to maximum extent.

vBulletin is paid and has a lot of features, however the new management that took over the company screwed up the latest version in every way possible. I like vbulletin but I have to abandon it because I'm not satisfied with how things are going right now.
