Best free forum script

Every one knows Vbulletin is the best forum script out there, however not every one can afford to buy its license and this is where free forum scripts come in.

Which of these according to you is the best free forum script?

I feel phpBB is cool because the number of addons available are plenty. Only that its lacking on the anti-spam area.

I hope a lot of people give their opinions in this thread. I am thinking about adding a forum to one of my sites. I have nowhere to start other than hotscripts looking for what is free out there.

I find, though, I waste a lot of time installing junk that doesn't work properly or can't be modified or customized easily.

So I will watch this thread to see what the consensus holds. Thx for any input.

I have used phpBB and I think its great, good community, great addons and themes.

But I am tilting towards SMF, although I havent used it but have seen some very very nice forums.

SMF is the best free forum script.It has good security and you can also easily install Modifications.
Plus it is easy to install themes too.You can easily manage members and other things.

Vbulletin is the best forum software but it is not free.We are speaking about free software here and Smf is the best because of the security...

vBulletin is a good forum script which is the reasons why we use it here, but it's not free.

I feel SMF is the best when it goes to free scripts.
Of course the good old Vbulletin hold no match for any of the counterparts available in the market.
My other choice for free script would be phpBB but i have had more bugs and problems with it than with SMF so way to go SMF !
