One of our department used to do design service on eBay, I should say it's a hard work, for different people have differdnt requirements, and they are difficult to cope for they will make modification during the design process, they hope the web site designed would be fascinating but they don't have knowledge of thie field, they think everything is easy but the fact is not. We didn't earn much and find it's so complicated thing and five up, that's my experience

Heh, it depends. Webdesign is well paid (depending on the work you do, you can earn even $ x.000/month), but there are lots of great webdesigners out there. You have to stand out of the crowd. Be original.

Maybe you should "Flipp" websites.
Make a niche blog (for example) with 10 posts about the topic, optimize it for SE and to earn money and sell it on ne-bay, for example!

It would make you earn a living. Making a website is not a very easy task, optimizing it to be visible on the net and attract visitors is more harder but if you are successful, you can generate a lot of money from it.
Webdesigning would give you enough and having a great traffic to your website would give you more money.

It depends on experience and whether it's part time or full time. You can go to job sites to get ideas from designers with the same expertise as yours.

The earnings are limited by the hours of the day and your skill. But one can potentially earn well.

There is no limit to earn ...
If you are a freelance operator, it all depends on your ability to find a job ...
Web design is a creative job and is not just for typing on the keyboard. So you can not even estimate the value of a designer.
Approximately, there are laws that dictate the market price of certain jobs, but they do not determine the speed at which these tasks can be done. Therefore, it is all in your hands ...

You can learn designs if you are passionate on web development, have good eye on details.
I am a hardcoder but I do love designing too.

I don't understand the question you want to earn by web designing or you want to design a website and then start earning.

It depends on where you are and what you include in designing a website. If you're a graphic design person and would make the graphics and determine the layout of the site, then those people can earn between $15/hr to several hundred per job. How much you make is directly proportional to how good you are, and if you're good enough then you can make truckloads of money.
