Default Use Affiliate Programs on a Blog

An affiliate program is one in which you are paid for referring a customer to a product or service. Using affiliate programs is a way to make money from your blog. It is not a way to get rich quickly, and it can take quite a bit of effort. However, it can be profitable if your blog is popular and your content lends itself to advertising. Below are some ideas and tips for using affiliate programs on your blog.
1.
1

Explore and sign up for affiliate programs. The most common of these is Amazon Associates. This program has thousands of products that you can promote on your site. Amazon will provide you with the HTML code for the ads. All you have to do is cut and paste them into your blog. Other affiliate programs include ClickBank and LinkShare.
2.
2

Be honest when recommending a product. It is important to be genuine and not recommend products you know nothing about in the hopes of making money. If you don't like a product, say so and explain why. It will make readers much more likely to trust you positive reviews if they know you are honest enough to give negative ones.
3.
3

Think about your audience. Why do you think your readers visit your blog? Do you review books? Are you a stay-at-home mom? If you discuss motherhood and taking care of your newborn, that is what your readers want to hear about from you. Putting up advertisements for auto parts on your new-mommy blog is not likely to be at all effective.
4.
4

Use links. If you are discussing how wonderful a particular product is on your blog, put a link in your post to that specific product. This is far more effective than having general links and banners plastered all over your blog.
5.
5

Track your results. Most affiliate programs have ways to track the results from your blog. You will be able to see what links or banners are being clicked on and what is selling. Use this information to determine what is effective on your blog and how to use these types of advertisements in the future.

Great post, thanks for the tips. You may also want to mention discussion about keyword density, since that's also important when writing to blogs.
