Default Are you still submitting your site to directories?

The web is changing and becoming more social and that's why many social bookmarking sites are announced daily... And I think Google is also not paying much attention and value to links coming from directories.

So, are you taking advantage of social bookmarking sites or still submitting to directories?

I have left submitting to directories, because first you submit and wait for the lazy admins to review your site and after few days you receive an email that "sorry your site is not approved because of blah blah reasons"

I am now just submitting my news, stories, and articles on social bookmarking sites that accepts the submissions in real time.

Besides some big directories(like DMOZ), I think Social Media Websites have taken most directories' place, bring traffic, add backlinks, Social Media Websites are doing what directories once did.

Submissions in Yahoo Directory and DMoZ is an essential part of a SEO campaign.Niche directories provide authority backlinks if done carefully under the right category.Besides this,Google has specified directory submission as a legitimate link building technique.

I agree your point of view.I have harrowing experience about the "sorry your site is not approved because...'' after I submit my site a long time....

Personally I just hire someone to submit my site to directories. You can get like 500 submissions for just $30. Well worth it if you ask me - even If it does take a while and only 1/4 of them get approved , it's still well worth it to me. Backlinks and traffic will build for you after the submissions.

If your site is new than try to submit the website with different directories. This is the best option to create new backlinks. But if your site has already gain links from directories than do not focus on directories but try to gain links from blogs, articles which will help to boost the ranking.

Yes friend, I like your style. Actually I am also not prefer directory submission but it help to get backlink too while socialbookmarking is not good for backlink purpose.

And I think some may agree with my opinion, what you say?

as per google, the links coming from directories have been reduced significantly for a simple reason that they are just created for putting up links and no new content. the ratio of good content to links on the pages is reducing considerably on the internet and is a big issue for the actual quality of internet. Directories just do that, do they should loose more and more value in future. Book marking is still better. articles or to say unique articles are the best.

The last point is correct; directories have taken a bit of a hit from Google because of the lack of content when submitting and I still use them but not as much. I have given up trying to get anything listed on Dmoz, life's too short to wait that long.

I would say step up the use of social network sites and keep your presence going on directory submission sites but maybe not as much.

Mal.

That true due to increasing popularity and also due to wider strong network globally submitting S.B. proves very much beneficial for us but than also I personally believe that old is gold and some basic benefits are never being changed.

Thus I also prefer to do famous and popular directory submission which surely give benefits no worry whether its more or small but it gives certainly.

Don't just believe blindly but try to use it on your own and then see the effect as I've seen the ranking improvements only by using directory submissions without using any other method.

I still submit my sites to directories but I prioritize social bookmarking. It is more effective, based on my experience.
